The WRTP|BIG STEP Education &Training Program Coordinator plays a pivotal role in effectively coordinating and overseeing various training initiatives and programs. This position is instrumental in ensuring the successful execution of construction and manufacturing cohort and short-term training programs at the Milwaukee office. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and data management skills, and a genuine dedication to facilitating vocational training for a diverse participant base.

Moreover, this role entails active outreach and engagement efforts, making it crucial for the ideal candidate to be a dynamic and empathetic individual who can connect with those interested in construction and manufacturing training. To excel in this position, the candidate must exhibit organizational prowess and proficiency in curriculum development. This role reports directly to the Milwaukee Regional Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Coordinate and manage the execution of Entry Level Construction Skills Training (ELCS), ELCS+CDL, CDL Prep, OSHA 30 training programs.
  • Develop program schedules, curriculum plans, and lesson plans in collaboration with instructors and partners.
  • Monitor program progress, ensuring compliance with objectives and goals.
  • Plan and oversee training sessions, workshops, and practical exercises to enhance participants skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, educational partners, community organizations, and employers to enhance program offerings and participant opportunities.
  • Foster positive relationships with external agencies to support participant placements, job opportunities, and resources.
  • Develop workable implementation plans, communicate changes effectively, and monitor transition.

Outreach and Recruitment

  • Identify and target potential participants for training programs through strategic outreach efforts, community events, partnerships, and digital platforms.
  • Develop marketing materials and communication strategies to promote programs effectively.
  • Respond to and fulfill community requests for information and participation at community events.
  • Conduct informational sessions and presentations to educate potential participants about program offerings and benefits.

Participant Engagement

  • Cultivate an inclusive and motivating learning environment that inspires and empowers program participants.
  • Employ a comprehensive range of engagement techniques, including convenience, contextual, emotional, and social engagement strategies.
  • Proactively engage participants through informed, consultative, collaborative, and empowering interactions.
  • Provide unwavering guidance, support, and mentorship, while keenly assessing and addressing individual needs and challenges.
  • Organize and facilitate a spectrum of team-building activities, thought-provoking group discussions, and interactive sessions to encourage robust participant interaction and foster enriched learning experiences.
  • Nurturing an environment that fosters recognition, trust, well-being, open communication, and a sense of belonging, thereby creating a strong and positive connection between participants and the program.

Data Management and Reporting

  • Gather and maintain up-to-date participant records, attendance, and program related data.
  • Provide and present data relative to those in need of services, such as targeted zip codes, day care centers, faith-based organizations, maternal/child health programs, community-based organizations, food pantries, health fairs. Job fairs and community events.
  • Generate regular reports on program progress and event tracking for departmental, program and contract reporting.
  • Utilize data to assess program effectiveness and make informed decisions for improvement.

Other Key Duties

  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and educational advancements related to youth development and vocational training.
  • Research and participate in relevant training, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Represent WRTP, members, and partners in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Degree preferably in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field.
  • A proven record in program coordination, youth development, and vocational training initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of educational curriculum development and implementation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting using various software and tools.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, resourcefulness in setting priorities, and ability meet all deadlines while also being highly detail oriented.
  • Enthusiasm for supporting out-of-school youth in their educational and vocational journey.
  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and work in ambiguity.
  • Performs all duties in conformance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines governing public sector employment, equal opportunity, and nondiscrimination in the workplace.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services is a plus.
  • Experience in construction and manufacturing is favorable but not required.
  • This position requires a driver's license, reliable transportation, and state mandated vehicle insurance.
  • This position requires the ability to regularly sit and write at a computer, stand, and lift less than 20 pounds to stock office supplies, frequently move from room to room to accommodate guests, use a telephone, and use a computer equipment to generate input and output and transmit data.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus.
