Main Responsibilities

To ensure that production personnel adhere to the SHE requirements, SOPs, Quality standards and maintain the expected volumes of product. To Lead the Production Department in the implementation of the production schedule, troubleshooting, technical / instructional support, product development / optimization, and work with line operators to implement new and better methods of working. To cultivate employees for advancement purposes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees, monitors, and coordinates production team activities giving importance to overall teams achievement of established goals and reports results. Areas: Safety, Quality, Productivity, Continuous Improvement.
  • Acts as liaison between team members and the Superintendent.
  • Standard work hours will be Week 1 Sun, Wed, Thur., 6:15 to 6:30
    Week 2 Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, 6:15 to 6:30 day shift or night shift.
  • Presents and facilitates meetings with line employees daily on expected deliverables and facilitates formal teaching or training sessions.
  • Ensures the safety of equipment and line personnel through enforcement of DSM safety standards.
  • Manage productivity /minimize waste in accordance with established standards.
  • Ensure proper cleaning of equipment and set up of materials, equipment, and packaging. Identify, analyze, and implement remediation of potential problems.
  • Insures 5S, Housekeeping and Continuous Improvement activities are being undertaken daily.
  • Evaluate the job performance of line employees and assist with discipline and goal setting.
  • Checks work completion to a set standard and assign employees to training.
  • Adjusts equipment as necessary to adhere to key operating parameters and regularly checks for maintenance needs on the line equipment.
  • Regularly instructs, reemphasizes the importance of safe behavior and why we have safety rules and policies and procedures.
  • Exemplary with his/her own SHE behavior and ensures adherence by employees.
  • Educate and train team on ways to improve the companys products, processes, and equipment.
  • Enable effective communications between management and operators.
  • Investigate and report all incidents.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and reports on processing issues as they arise in production. Processing issues include, but are not limited to, product, temperature, SHE, quality, control systems, feeders, raw materials, and technical monitoring.
  • Investigates root causes, including any part of the compounding process.
  • Interfaces with inter-company technical personnel, shift superintendents, and maintenance, as well as direct labor, to achieve optimum asset utilization.
  • Possess working knowledge of the compounding process.
  • Trains operators in the proper and consistent operation of the compounding processes and raw material characteristics.
  • Creates operators awareness in the potential implications to the finished product when variation occurs in the processing or raw material items.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of operating procedures.
  • Works with superintendents to establish first time right behavior, reduce scrap, reduce rework, and eliminate problems when processing rework.
  • Assists implementation, utilization and monitoring of production SPC systems.
  • Optimizes the products qualities under the guidance of Process Engineering. Ensures products are capable of running to operations specifications; if not, determine and make or recommend corrective actions.
  • Provides coverage, monitoring, and reporting of product trials with assistance from Process Engineering. Makes potential changes in operating conditions to achieve product trial goals.
  • Functions in Manufacturing Excellence roles as assigned.
  • Complies with all position requirements as defined in DSM's internal control, quality system and SHE requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs special projects and related duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the performance of Risk Assessments - Job Safety Analysis (JSA), HAZOPS, Machine Safety Analysis.
  • Trained as a backup Shift Superintendent.
  • Assist with the calibration of equipment.
  • Support the Work Order Process as owner of the production equipment.
  • Validate production data daily.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary teams organized around safety and quality.
  • Assist in the management of work instructions.
  • creation and / or modify work instructions.
  • review work instructions periodically
  • assist with supporting documentation risk analysis.
  • Lead training of operators to insure adherence to the instructions.
