  • Compensation: $70k-100k per year
  • Locations: Remote with travel required
  • Travel: Up to 50% travel/deployment and on-site work required.

Mission Of Role/Position Summary

The Emergency Management Senior Consultant is responsible for assisting the company and clients with special projects within their scope as a subject matter expert. An Emergency Management Senior Consultant provides advanced support, advice and analytical services to private businesses and government agencies on how to deal with emergency situations or any emergency management functions or disciplines. Each Consultant will have a specific work portfolio based on skills sets and needs. The position will be guided in all activities by ACDCs Corporate Values Platform.

Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

  • Support and assist in leading all corporate and program operations related to the Recovery Division on all division projects in addition to general emergency management services as needed.
  • Provide support with all strategic and business plans to ensure they are followed in relation to project and division work.
  • Manage critical portions of projects and ensure all aspects of a project are completed as outlined in the contract scope of work and timeline.
  • Conduct meetings and briefings with clients, prepare and facilitate budgets, proposals, client presentations, develop materials and reporting as needed.
  • When requested, assist Division Leadership with business development tasks such as responding to requests for proposals and building relationships with external partners based on subject-matter expertise.
  • Develop state and local response and pre- and post-disaster recovery plans, procedures, checklists, and guidance documents.
  • Maintain currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents for applicable roles.
  • Provide response and recovery related training to state and local government clients.
  • Conduct needs assessment and gap analysis as it relates to response and recovery planning, the clients emergency operations plan, and mitigation planning (where applicable).
  • Identifypotential impacts/implications of policy changes to Federal/State/local programs and provide briefings as required
  • Perform quality control review procedures over work performed by other consultants and over client-provided documents as requested.
  • Serve in a response capacity in a state or local Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as needed.
  • During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support or co-lead relief efforts or assist with organizing responses to support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations.
  • Gain experience, train for, and become knowledgeable in all areas of Emergency Management.
  • Maintain/pursue ongoing knowledge, certifications, and subject matter expertise as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education Required

  • 5-7+ years advanced or subject matter expert-level knowledge/experience in emergency management, funding eligibility and FEMA public assistance.
  • Advanced level customer service experience
  • Advanced level project management experience
  • Bachelors degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field.
  • Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • At least 1-year direct leadership experience or experience leading complex portions of projects teams/tasks, program management or full scope programs.
  • Advanced to subject matter expert level knowledge and/or experience in one Emergency Management Disciplines.
  • Intermediate to advanced level knowledge and/or experience in two or more Emergency Management Disciplines.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of recovery and response programs including FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) Public Assistance.
  • Knowledge of full scope Emergency Management protocols and familiarity with state and local plans, agencies, and funding sources is necessary.
  • Experience managing projects or complex portions of projects.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel.

Experience/Education Preferred

  • Applicable Certifications:
    • Certified Emergency Manager (CEM)
    • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Business development experience.
  • Proficient with Salesforce.
Supervisory Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant may have supervisory responsibilities within projects, but no direct reports on a full-time basis.

Expected Hours Of Work

Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount.

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 50% travel is expected for this position.
  • Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for prolonged periods of time.

Physical Demands

  • Mobility required on-site with clients.
  • Sitting or standing for hours at a time.
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed.

Working Environment

  • All ACDC positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.
  • If the remote work site locations change, ACDC HR must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.
  • All ACDC positions require travel to client sites or for emergency activations/deployments, as requested by leadership.

Additional Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States is required.
