THE POSITION

Are you a highly skilled in the field of maintenance and operational management? The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institute, Forest is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 3. This is a managerial position that requires decisions in regard to the daily maintenance of the institution as well as preventative maintenance, on-going construction projects, power systems, and employee assignments. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position is a combination of facility maintenance and construction consultant with an emphasis on both construction management and technical assistance. It provides supervisory oversight to facility maintenance and trades staff in the performance of routine and specialized maintenance, construction, and repair tasks for the assigned institution.

Duties include providing technical and administrative assistance in the design and construction of projects, support, maintenance, and renovation projects within the DOC ensuring to support the DOC interests. You also attend job conferences, review project status, and inspect site work for adherence to DOC policy, facility resources and contract documents.

Other responsibilities include reviewing reports and proposals to observe the facility in an effort to prioritize preventative maintenance, construction projects, and new workloads. In addition, you are responsible for having a written plan for preventive maintenance of the physical plant that includes provisions for emergency repairs or replacement in life-threatening situations.

In this position, you serve as a member of the Departments Continuity of Government Relocation Team. In the event that the essential functions of Central Office must be temporarily relocated to a field location due to an emergency, you participate on the Relocation Team and perform all duties as directed by the team leader.

This position requires you to travel frequently, with annual visits to all DOC facilities. This may include overnight stays as dictated by each institutions needs and related construction.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,235 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Facility Maintenance Manager 2; or
  • Two years as a Facility Maintenance Manager 1; or
  • Three years of experience as a Utilities Supervisor; or
  • Seven years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including four years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
