MAJOR FUNCTION: The Program Specialist - HVAC/Manufacturing, is housed within the Division of Workforce Development. The position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Center Program Manager and is responsible for the planning, developing, organizing, and the implementation of trades/industrial/green instructional workforce courses, programs, and career pathways that are consistent with needs of worker and employer (industry) training.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Works directly with the AMTC Program Manager to develop career and technical certificate, continuing workforce education and customized training programs to meet local labor market demand. Assists Program Manager with budget development, meeting programs and revenue objectives.
  • Assists students with navigating and completing various college processes such as college application and registration and financial aid. Interacts with the TCC Divisions and Department, external to the Division of Workforce Development such as Student Affairs for issues related to enrollment services/registrar, Accessibility and Resource Center (ARC), and the Office of Student Conduct, Financial Aid, Veterans Affairs, in order to expedite student admissions, enrollment and registration with a goal of increasing retention. Assists with the tracking, reporting, and maintaining student attendance. Tracks and maintains student industry certifications internally and with certifying organizations. Manager.
  • Assists the AMTC Program Manager with ensuring all credit and non-credit programs, student information and other required documentation is included in the colleges current enterprise resource program (ERP), student information system (SIS) and any other required data repositories.
  • Ensures instructors maintain course files in the current ERP and that instructors enter student industry earned certifications in the current ERP. This includes maintaining student course records (paper and electronically) for historical or future audit purposes. Ensures instructors are certified in areas of instruction.
  • Assists in the external and internal marketing of AMTC offerings by participating and hosting student and community recruitment events. Assists in hiring, supervising, and evaluating assigned staff such as OPS instructors and clerical staff. Serves as the backup to the AMTC Program Manager.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or its equivalent, and six years of experience or Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Manufacturing Technology, Materials Science, Industrial Management, Engineering or an appropriate field (i.e., business, communications, marketing) with two (2) years of relatable experience required. Preferences will be given to individuals with experience in a manufacturing setting and/or post-secondary teaching in a technical area; demonstrated experience in leading a post-secondary institution technical program; a valid driver's license (operator).

Ability to speak clearly and distinctly. Ability to navigate the college ERP systems (WorkDay). Ability to handle and protect confidential data with integrity. Ability to interact with other project partners, internal and external. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to keep accurate & thorough records. Ability to access transportation and travel the tri-county area. Ability to organize large amounts of information. Effective time management skills. Ability to Demonstrates energy, organization, and professional demeanor. Ability to use basic office equipment including, but not limited to: Desktop Computer, Printer, Telephone, Photocopier, Fax Machine, Scanner, and Calculator. Ability to file, organize, and retrieve of computerized and paper records. Ability to plan and execute routine office duties. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to take initiative with assignments to help improve the quality of Advance Manufacturing. Ability to work independently with limited supervision. Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks concurrently. Ability to interact effectively with multiple levels of the public. Ability to function under pressure, meets deadlines, handle multiple requests, and provide detailed follow-through on various tasks. Ability to solve problems and make procedures more effective. Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment with teams of staff across multiple organizations.
