THE POSITION

Are you seeking a fast-paced, detailed oriented position utilizing your purchasing experience? If so, look no further! The Department of Corrections is looking for a Purchasing Agent to be responsible for purchasing supplies, materials, equipment, and/or services for the Northeast Regional Purchasing Group. The Regional Purchasing Group oversees procurements for the following State Correctional Institutions (SCI): SCI Mahanoy; SCI Frackville; SCI Waymart; SCI Dallas; and SCI Coal Township.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform technical purchasing work for the Department of Corrections (DOC). This position is primarily responsible for the routine procurement of supplies and services for the Northeast Region covering SCI Mahanoy, SCI Frackville, SCI Waymart, SCI Dallas, and SCI Coal Township.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment (37.50-hour work week)
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Work Location: SCI Mahanoy, 301 Grey Line Drive, Frackville, PA 17931 (Schuylkill County) or SCI Dallas, 100 Follies Road, Dallas, PA 18612 (Luzerne County) depending on selected applicant's location.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,010.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.

Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
