Position Summary

Position serves as a chemistry expert on a wide variety of issues involving all aspects of power plants/analytical laboratory. Expertise is required in environmental, general water treatment, lubricants, fuel chemistry, and analytical chemistry. Position will work with Xcel facilities and/or customers to enhance availability, reliability, and help ensure low operating costs.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the design, development, and implementation of chemical treatment and/or analytical programs and related procedures, including chemical cleanings.
  • Provide expert level consultation and recommendations to internal and external customers and vendors to ensure compliance and optimize processes. Coordinate inspections and data analysis. Perform and direct complex root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions. Contributes to replications of best practice. Serve as subject matter expert. Provide benefit to cost ratio analysis and life cycle analysis for capital and O & M projects.
  • Establish process parameters for compliance with control limits. Direct personnel in correcting out of control conditions and follow up to ensure compliance.
  • Research and make recommendations on implementation of new technologies. Design and implement applicable procedures utilizing appropriate improvements. Develop methods for water conservation and reuse.
  • Provide expert level chemistry related information, integrated with environmental services input to governmental agencies to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and oversee the technical training of plant and/or analytical personnel.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related science and 15 years related experience in power plant, electric utility, laboratory issues and environmental compliance. Ability to obtain state certifications as applicable by the jurisdiction.

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $79,000.00 to $112,999.00 per year
