The Role

Bring your analysis and software development skills to our team! As a developer analyst, you will conduct analyses and document business and technical requirements to support system development, implementation, operation, and retirement. You will write software code or modify existing code using a variety of computer development languages in support of new and modified software systems. You will work with large and complex systems that span multiple divisions and/or state agencies. We are recruiting for two vacancies apply today!

Underfill Option: The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at an information systems specialist 7 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for an information systems specialist 6 ($5,660 - $8,572) to apply, as we may consider underfilling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for an information systems specialist 7. Underfill training will not exceed three years.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop and document business and technical requirements for new and/or modified systems.
  • Perform analysis to develop cost, time, and performance factors for a variety of alternatives and make recommendations on same to leadership and customers.
  • Act as technical lead and/or architect to oversee design and development of new or changed systems.
  • Write new or modify existing software programs using a variety of software languages.
  • Participate in meetings to plan tasks, develop work sequencing, estimate costs, and identify resource needs.
  • Identify alternative technical solutions and develop appropriate project artifacts to assess each alternative.
  • Work with appropriate business, technical and vendor staff to troubleshoot, escalate and resolve system performance problems.
  • Analyze systems to identify impacts of changes to other systems, environments, and technical infrastructure.
  • Develop conceptual and logical database designs and supporting materials (e.g., scripts, document artifacts, etc.).
  • Analyze data and business processes to develop plans, recommendations, and technical designs that meet agency needs.
  • Work in an office environment with both onsite and remote worksite options.

Minimum Qualifications For The Information System Specialist 7

  • Six (6) years of information systems experience in: analysis and software development;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in: analysis and software development;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in: analysis and software development;

OR

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

Minimum qualifications for the information systems specialist 6 underfill option:

  • Five (5) years of information systems experience in: analysis and software development;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND three (3) years of information systems experience in: analysis and software development;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in: analysis and software development.

  • Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements to modify existing and implement new system functionality.
  • History of roles and work that demonstrate strong business process analysis, data analysis, and systems analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to write new or modify existing software programs using a variety of software languages.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complete software code work products including documentation that explains, in detail, what the product is, how it works, and why it works that way.
  • Expertise developing test plans including unit and system test cases, as well as user acceptance test plans.
