New York State Senator Pamela Helming is seeking an analytical individual with strong communication skills to join her team in the Albany office as a Legislative Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional with a passion for public service. The most qualified candidate will possess the following: - Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on writing
- Demonstrated experience with local, state, or federal government and knowledge of the legislative process coursework in public policy, political science, or other relevant field is acceptable
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent judgment and the ability to work with confidential information
- A bachelor's degree (preferred)
Duties Description Working alongside the Legislative Director in executing the Senators legislative agenda, some of the duties of the person in this dynamic role will include: - Researching relevant topics and developing legislative proposals
- Tracking pending legislation
- Drafting legislative correspondence in response to constituent inquiries
- Performing common office duties such as answering phone calls and sorting mail
Additional Comments The salary range is $40,000 - $42,000, commensurate with education and experience.
