POSITION SUMMARY:

Our Corporate Public Relations Team is a group at the center of it all, working with the media and other stakeholders to share Purina's story and demonstrate our company's leadership in the pet care industry. They look after our reputation and ensure we are a good corporate citizen in our hometown of St. Louis, MO, the communities that we operate, and beyond. They offer cross functional support to all areas of the business, oversee national programs to promote our pet expertise, innovation, and products, manage partnerships and events within our local and extended communities, and organize various internal functions and programs around which our associates rally.

The Corporate Public Relations Lead will work alongside marketing and PR agency partners to develop and execute proactive communications strategies that promote priority Purina initiatives and partnerships to key audiences ranging from consumers to veterinarians to key opinion leaders. This person will direct efforts to engage national and targeted media, creators/influencers and strategic partners to generate exposure for our corporate brand, partnership marketing programs, sustainability work, and innovation (R&D).
  • Develop strategy, plans, and programs to generate exposure for assigned business units consistent with Purina's communications standards
  • Work cross-functionally with internal and external partners to contribute communications support and expertise to integrated marketing programs
  • Effectively manage external public relations agency resources to promote strategic priorities, including corporate CSV initiatives, key partnerships, and Purina's in-house pet expertise
  • Write stories and press materials to support priority efforts of our corporate brand, partnership marketing team, sustainability group, and R&D
  • Oversee budget of assigned public relations programs
  • Set goals and evaluate publicity efforts/programs for effectiveness and impact on the Purina brand and company
Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, Public Relations, or related field of study
  • 7+ years of experience managing proactive communication efforts for companies and/or consumer products
  • 2+ years of experience leading public relations/comms strategy development for company/client
  • 2+ years of experience writing and editing media materials with the ability to translate complex information into consumer-friendly language
  • 2+ years of experience in managing local and/or national public relations programs with track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs
Other
  • Experience in client service organization or public relations agency is preferred
  • Experience in planning and executing media events on behalf of company/client is preferred
  • Issue/crisis communications experience, including drafting messaging or providing counsel before or during an issue/crisis is preferred

The approximate pay range for this position is $93,000 to $149,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
