One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service allocated to a Grade 23 or higher eligible for transfer and determined to be similar by Civil Service.
Some titles eligible for transfer require special qualifications, if applicable the special qualifications are:
*24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing. You must provide the course name, the number of semester credit hours received, and the name of the accredited college/university attended. Only courses with the word accounting, auditing, or taxation are considered qualifying. Although you may have received credit for courses such as business law, economics, statistics, or finance as part of your accounting curriculum, these courses cannot be counted toward the required 24 semester credit hours.
Duties Description DUTIES:
The Associate Accountant duties in Bureau of Fiscal Management will include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise accountant staff charged with monitoring agency Federal expenditures and fiscal reporting for grantees and delegate agencies in the Western and Central region of the State
- Review and approval of staff timesheets and travel expense reports.
- Review and track all monthly staff activity reports.
- Oversee staff responsibility for monitoring responsibilities in the field and office to ensure that grant awards and Federal guidelines are adhered to.
- Review/approval of Federal block grant contracts, contract amendments, and payments to grantees.
- Review and oversight of Federal monitoring and reporting.
- Review reports and other fiscal monitoring documents prepared by staff.
- Prepare periodic reports of Federal activities and issues involving Federal funding.
- Communicate critical issues to the Supervising Accountant and program staff.
- Participate in internal meetings regarding Federally funded contractors.
- Participate in regional meetings with grantee and DOS partners.
- Assist with Federal grant submissions.
- Provide technical assistance to DOS programs in contract monitoring and expenditure review.
- Provide technical assistance for Federal reporting.
- Conduct field and desk audits of State funded local assistance contracts upon request.
- Participate in external audits as necessary.
- Assist with internal control testing and reporting.
