Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule


Full-time position available with the Housing & Community Development Department, Affordable Housing Division, located at 414 E 12th St.
Salary Range: $6,489-$9,734/Month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day a week after completion of a 6-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, and administers all elements of the City's comprehensive housing program.
  • Remains informed of sources of best practices and funding sources and directs efforts to compete for funds.
  • Remains apprised of housing needs of all elements of the community.
  • Serves as the advocate of affordable housing programs in the community and in local government and integrates affordable housing programs into the City's urban planning process.
  • Plans, organizes, and administers efforts associated with the City's Right to Counsel, Affordable Housing Trust Fund, and Central City Economic Development District programs.

Qualifications


REQUIRES an accredited Bachelors degree in public or business administration, law, finance/accounting, public affairs/policy, urban planning, public health, or human services and 5 (OR an accredited Master's degre in the mentioned fields and 3) years of experience working on federal or local housing services and programs; community or economic development; real estate; or human/social services programs with 2 years of supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, including 2 years of supervisory experience. Preference given for experience in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) or Federal Program experience.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
