The Correctional Officer maintains care and custody of inmates, security and order on and off the McKenzie County Correctional Facility under general supervision. This position is located in Watford City, ND. Level and salary commensurate with experience
Essential Job Functions
- Document inmates activities and monitor movement throughout the facility
- Provide all aspects of supervision of inmates to ensure custody, control, and care; including recreation and meal periods
- Prepare paperwork for booking new inmates and release of existing inmates
- Monitor conformance to facility rules and regulations
- Inspect the condition of pods and housing unites for security and cleanliness
- Conduct inspections, searches, and security checks of inmates
- Examines and interprets court orders and release documents to determine correct court, housing needs, and releases
- Secure all inmate property and follow standard procedures designated for the care of the property
- Address complaints from staff, inmates, visitors, etc.
- All other tasks as assigned for business need
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers license
- Must be able to become a Certified Correctional Officer within one (1) year of hire date
- Judgement and decision making - the ability to quickly assess a situation and determine the appropriate response
- Ability to monitor multiple activities and individuals to predict future behavior
- Ability to follow written and verbal requests
- Willingness and desire to learn new and challenging tasks
- Physical Requirements:
- Able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Salary Range of $27.27 to $29.52 per hour, DOE
