Aon Investments USA is looking for an Investment Strategist

Aon is currently seeking an Investment Strategist to join our Global Asset Allocation (GAA) team in Chicago reporting to the global team head based in London.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop strategies and investment ideas for clients, as well as delivering client presentations on a variety of economic and investment topics.

The team advises Aons global clients in five core areas:

  • Long-term and medium-term economic and market outlooks.
  • Analysis on how investment and macro themes impact will likely asset classes.
  • Opportunities in new asset classes.
  • Quantitative long-term asset return, volatility, and correlation assumptions.
  • Deterministic scenario analysis including on financial shocks, secular macro trends and climate change risks. These are combined with possible asset class return scenarios which are then used to ensure portfolio resilience.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifying how the macro and market outlook impacts clients, with a focus on the needs of clients based in the U.S. and Canada. Help develop investment strategies for them, and suggest medium-term analysis to portfolios, which will enhance risk-adjusted returns.
  • Run and communicate model portfolios which encapsulate best ideas.
  • Help create and present engaging presentations, which provide not only creative thought leadership, but also further enhance Aon's reputation for understanding risk and complexity and helping clients to make better decisions.
  • Consult with the U.S. based manager research teams to identify key investment opportunities and ideas.
  • Support to Senior members of the U.S. and Canadian practices on research and data projects.
  • Provide day-to-day contact with the North American client team and other specialist teams.
  • Author research papers about key investment themes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree (Math, Economics or Finance).
  • An active interest in macroeconomics, markets, and an understanding of drivers for all the main asset classes.
  • Highly numerate and familiar with financial mathematics.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly collegial with the ability to build and maintain colleague and client relationships.
  • A proactive teammate who is motivated towards client results.
  • Positive can do demeanor.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with excel VBA, python or R coding skills would be a plus.
  • 3+ years of investment space experience, ideally as close to financial markets as possible.
  • Consistently acts with the highest integrity and professional standards.

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $63,000 to $102,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicants education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicants geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, IL. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.
