We are seeking someone looking for a
Actuarial Opportunity - Guy Carpenter / Smith Group
in our South Portland, ME office.

What can you expect?


We are seeking a recent college graduate who is interesting in pursuing a career as an actuary.

The individual we are looking for is someone with a high level of curiosity.

In addition, this person should have high aptitude for analyzing robust data sets, and also be a creative problem solver.

The individual should seek opportunities to act independently instead of waiting for someone to tell them what to do.

We also highly value strong communication skills since all Guy Carpenter/Smith Group employees frequently interact with our clients directly.

We will count on you to:


Help managing reinsurer financial reporting which includes working with multiple data sets and explaining financial outcomes

Working with large data sets either internal to Smith Group / Guy Carpenter, or on behalf of a client.

Assist Smith Group team and clients with their predictive modeling needs

Participate in client calls to listen and suggest services that will meet their needs

Presenting research findings to clients

Perform ad hoc research and industry research on behalf of clients


What you need to have:


College Graduate who wants to pursue a degree as an Actuary

Bachelor Degree, ideally in Actuarial Science or Mathematics

Prior internship experience is a plus

Technological proficiency is highly valued

Experience with languages like R, Python, SQL, etc. are a plus

Comfortable with Microsoft Office tools
