Job Duties:
Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis. Update software or enhance existing software capabilities. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Scale technology as Marqeta’s business continues to grow while staying focused on shipping software that matters to our customers. Innovate on various aspects of Engineering and Distributed Architecture, focus on the CI/CD process for delivering quality products in the true sense of lean development. Work on challenges to Card Fulfillment, Cases/Disputes Management, Tokenization, Commercial Payments, On-boarding, SDKs by leveraging knowledge of programming experience such as Java, Python, JavaScript and Ruby. Build a modern credit issuing service to power the next generation of payment innovators by writing code with great quality and test coverage. Multiply the force of Marqeta’s product engineering by developing common foundational systems that are incorporated into all of Marqeta’s products using production experience with modern engineering and cloud tools. Assist with challenges to web applications and products around fraud using experience with transactional RDBMS such as MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL Server, or Oracle. Design, develop, implement, and deliver high quality products to Marqeta’s customers. Develop testable, scalable, trustworthy systems that eliminate manual tasks from the financial industry. Prioritize and ship features in line with your team’s roadmap - working in a team environment to deliver effectively. Apply modern best practices in your designs and implementations. May telecommute.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field.

Special Requirements:
Position requires at least 1 academic semester of graduate-level coursework or some experience in each of the following skills:
1) Utilize knowledge of Java, human-computer interaction, object-oriented analysis and design, task analysis for user interface design, usability analysis including heuristic analysis.
2) Utilize knowledge in technology related to search engine design and development, such as document and query processing, index construction and compression, vector space model, statistical language model, search interface design, and link analysis; program languages such as Java and Python; search engine platforms such as Lucene, Elastic Search; and machine learning technologies in text mining such as learning to rank, word embedding, and deep learning models.
3) Utilize knowledge Angular 5+ and Ionic 4+ to develop web portal and mobile (front-end) applications that allow customers to track and analyze data.
4) Utilize knowledge of Java, MySQL, Spring security and Hibernate/JPA to develop features including CVS file generator, Push Notification (Cloud Messaging) and auto-email sender (Java Mail), online real-time chat (Socket.io), video streaming and file manager/explorer for backend service.
5) Utilize knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, MySQL, and Firebase Cloud Messaging to design a system to accommodate over 1000 participants, each including 500MB dataset and conduct CI/CD practice.
