WHO YOULL WORK WITH

The Web Data CoE has a mission to provide data to all uplines within Bain. We are sector and region agnostic. Through proprietary technologies and tools built internally, we can extract targeted data from many web pages. The Web Data CoE is an active participant in innovation for alternative data software solutions that leverage webscraping technologies.



WHAT YOULL DO

This pivotal role is for a Full-Stack developer to empower and enable the Web Data CoE to provide faster, more accurate, and more robust solutions to the Private Equity Group and within Bain as a whole.


One of the primary tasks of this role revolve around core Web Data product development including working as part of a cross-functional Agile development team to understand, translate, and implement business context and domain expertise. Continue to build, maintain, and improve on our core technologies

This role requires a thorough understanding of Web Technologies. To include but not limited to

Nodejs (TypeScript and JavaScript)

React

Python

Puppeteer

MongoDB



This role requires continued learning and discovery to continually empower and enable our toolset the ability capture leading edge data

This individual should take ownership over their work and deliver clean, concise, and elegant code

This individual should have a working understanding of server architecture and DevOps work

This individual needs to be comfortable in a Linux system




ABOUT YOU

Existing Infrastructure Management (~40%)


Maintenance and management of current features and functionality

Bug fixes and use case implementation to enable the fulfillment team to execute against advancing web technologies

Migrate legacy code over to new architecture

Improve CI/CD processes


New Feature Development (~30%)


Work with the broader team to identify and implement new features and functionality of proprietary toolset

Design and improve data quality processes

Identify new technologies to help broaden feature set of proprietary tools

Advance technology through Generative AI


Advancing Tools Undetectability (~10%)


Identify and design processes to improve and reduce browser detectability

Site fingerprinting strategies

Browser User-Agent strategies

Browser stealth strategies


Project Driven Debugging (~20%)


Assist broader team with issues that arise during the fulfillment process

Identify tool improvements to reduce defects and bugs
