Roles and Responsibilities:


Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced
Operations Supervisor
for its
Marion, IN
facility which produces liquid carbon dioxide.

The
Operations Supervisor
position will support all aspects of the day-to-day plant & terminal operations. This will include customer interface, business interface, safety and environmental compliance, maintenance budgeting, as well as employee training. This role will require the successful candidate to gain an understanding of all aspects of the sites plant and distribution operation and maintenance, with specific areas of focus on leadership skills as a front-line supervisor. Effective communication skills to coach employees for regulatory and policy compliance are essential.

The successful candidate will need to be able to identify and develop talent while promoting teamwork. They will work to drive the site towards operational excellence through clear communication with employees, effective management of workload, and respectful communication with the support teams. They must be able to understand the larger picture and consider the implications of decisions.




Required Skills / Abilities:

Management of the sites Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management.
Ensuring Environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products Corporate and Governmental Regulations.
Understanding safe operating, design, and permit limits.
Supporting all aspects of the day-to-day operations to include troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities, and driving plant projects.
Identifying maintenance concerns; then developing and implementing corrective measures with the maintenance team as well as carrying out site preventive maintenance and mechanical integrity programs.
Interfacing with the source ethanol plant, customers, and the Air Products commercial team.
Supporting all aspect of the day-to-day operation and maintenance activity for the drivers including DOT driver logs, driver safety meetings, driver observations, and coordination of fleet maintenance activities.
Implementing and sharing best practices.
Investigating incidents and near misses which includes understanding and correcting root causes of failures.
Providing vacation relief for process operator and assuring plant coverage when issues arise. (Position will require on-call responsibilities and limited weekend coverage on every other week basis)
Education and Licensing Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED required.
5+ years of relevant operations/maintenance experience in an industrial plant is preferred.
A degree in engineering or a technical field is a plus but not required. Applicable experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
A self-starter with demonstrated leadership skills and ability to develop talent.
Team player that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong administrative/computer skills
