Role and Responsibilities:


We are seeking an Operations Area Manager for the Baytown area. The Baytown Area Manager has full operational and maintenance accountability for the HYCO and ASU production assets in the Baytown, TX area. The incumbent must have the technical and operational knowledge to lead the executing team and to serve as a focal point for senior leadership.

The Baytown operational area consists of the Baytown ASU and associated refinery off gas H2 purification facility, the Baytown 3 SMR and CO facility, the Corpus Christi SMR, and Conroe and HOUGOX ASU gen gas facilities. This role reports into the HYCO Gulf Coast franchise, and the franchise consists of 5 operational areas: Baytown, LaPorte, Port Arthur/Westlake, Up-river Louisiana, and Mid-river Louisiana. The Gulf Coast franchise consists of world-scale SMR plants, CO-Syngas production facilities, and off-gas recovery plants. The Gulf Coast franchise is also home to the worlds largest hydrogen pipeline network.

Responsibilities include:

Establishing an atmosphere of safety for all personnel in the area and motivating personnel to remain focused on safety.
Directing the maintenance activities and plant operations to minimize downtime and meet customer requirements.
Maximizing asset utilization, cost minimization and performance improvement for the area.
Setting the goals and direction for productivity and efficiency improvements for the area; monitoring systems for cost control, staffing levels, and setting objectives for improved utilization of the area staff.
Will continually interface with the HyCO Gulf Coast Line Manager, Asset Managers, and Account Managers to optimize services and manage priorities.
Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with the operations/production teams for the host customer(s).


Required Skills / Abilities:


Must be able to lead, inspire, coach, and recognize the team by empowering people to do their best work by providing regular and honest feedback.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are required as interaction with customers at the senior management levels is required.
Must be able to handle questions well in highly visible, confrontational situations.
Administer Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) standards to ensure the protection of employees, contractors, the community, and the environment.
Act as a leader in the HyCO sub-region Leadership Team to continue the development of the sub-regions capabilities and personnel.


Education and Experience Requirements:


A degree in Engineering, a technical field, or equivalent subject area with 10 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical plant, industrial gas plant, petroleum refinery, or an operation of equivalent complexity.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of leadership experience in Operations or Plant Management.
