Job Title:Programmer Location: Chicago, IL Remote or onsite: Chicago, IL remote subject to change Job Description: The Java / J2EE developer will help design, enhance, and fine tune the Business Intelligence (BI) applications using Java technologies/toolsets. Ideal candidate will require knowledge of Java and its components along with basic BI tool experience. Job Responsibilities: Develop, maintain and deploy Java / J2EE based Web applications integrated with other BI systems. Work with the supervising manager to address any application maintenance issues, single-handedly lead the development of Java applications. Maintain existing java web application running on the J2EE BI Application server and work on feature enhancements, bug fixes and new functionality using the existing Java/J2EE framework and tools. Help migrate Java applications to make them compatible with browser, server, and technology upgrades. Create and maintain the data structures (tables) required to store data in the back end by the Java Web application using SQL and stored procedures. Create project/delivery documentation such as deployment guides, release notes, product unit test recommendation documents etc. Maintain the Java source code in the git repository and own the configuration management and build and assist with the deployment of the code in various environments like Dev, Test, UAT. Provide walkthrough of the release documentation to the deployment teams Job Requirements: 5+ years of Java & JavaScript experience Ability to code in Java/J2EE for web using Java beans, struts and tag libraries. Knowledge of basic design patterns and J2EE coding standards Ability to write SQL and Stored Procedures using SQL Skill for writing reusable Java libraries. Relevant Knowledge of Java GUI frameworks like Swing, SWT, AWT according to project requirements. Relevant understanding working with WAS servers. Basic knowledge of JVM (Java Virtual Machine), its drawbacks, weaknesses, and workarounds Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests In-depth knowledge of code versioning tools, for instance, Git Expertise in continuous integration Experience with Java Server pages (JSP) and Servlets; Web frameworks like Struts and Spring; Web Technologies like HTML, JavaScript, CSS, jQuery; Markup Languages such as XML, JSON Preferred Requirements: Cognos/Tableau experience is a plus. Date modelling experience is preferred.
