JOB SUMMARY
The Design Engineer-ASG, under the leadership of the Manager, Design Engineering will support the process to provide business essential, cost effective, product design support. The Design Engineer 1) Be responsible for the design and documentation of products during the design and development phases 2) Own design and development activities, 3) Drive cross functional involvement in strict adherence to the development process 4) Partner in the identification of new suppliers and drive supplier development process. 5). Support procurement in management of existing supply base 6) Understand current automotive accessory trends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires you to be punctual and dependable in order to meet the needs of the business; including attending and participating in meetings and presentations.
Produce engineering designs and drawings in accordance with the applicable drawing and quality standards.
Maintain proficiency with drawing standards and tolerancing.
Maintain proficiency with document and configuration control methods and standards.
Maintain adherence to accessory product expectations for accessory product categories as assigned.
Maintain vehicle applicability, conflicts, and requirements for accessories.
Facilitate accessory supplier readiness for manufacturing of accessories.
Facilitate accessory manufacturing process readiness for installation of accessories, including installation training (for trainers).
Participate in model year carry-over validation activities.
Support accessory product quality problem solving efforts, including supplier corrective action.
Participate in Field Quality Plan development for newly launched accessories.
Participate in review of warranty and other indicators of field performance and customer satisfaction.
Participate in the continual improvement of accessory development and launch processes.
Participate in determining the direction of the accessory portfolio and help optimize accessory product category
Responsibly receive, transmit, and handle consumer and customer data per applicable policies and procedures.
Review and follow data privacy practices, policies, and guidelines.
Other duties may be assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelors degree from an accredited fouryear college or university, or equivalent, in Automotive, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering related field (preferred); plus 5-8 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in product quality and partapproval strongly preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
The ability to effectively communicate and interface with diverse audiences is critical. Some experience leading and coaching work team(s) is necessary as is the ability to motivate and inspire others to take the initiative to make improvements
Ability to work with mathematical concepts consistent with skills utilized in Bachelor of Science curriculum
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
Strong understanding of current industry-wide (OE and aftermarket) product expectations for accessory product categories as assigned.
Familiarity with common manufacturing processes for accessory product categories as assigned.
Demonstrate action planning and coordination skills.
Demonstrate excellent technical analysis and diagnostic skills.
Excellent judgment, analytical, and interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of executives, associates and other contacts
Ability to understand and apply GST financial and productivity measures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The associate may occasionally be required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While the job is generally performed in an office environment, the associate is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, areas in which moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals are present, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the associate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Minimal travel is required for this position (up to 10% of the time and on a domestic basis).
