We will count on you to:


As a part of the research team based in the Pacific region, you will play an important role in researching and rating equity strategies, to be used by Mercers global client base.The position will have a high profile in the Pacific market and globally within Mercer. Working with other equity boutique researchers around the globe, you will focus predominantly on the coverage of Australian and New Zealand equity products and servicing of Australian and New Zealand clients and our investment solutions business.


Key Responsibilities:


Pacific Equity Manager Research:
Maintain an active schedule of research for the purpose of identifying best-in-class strategies within Australian and New Zealand equity product categories. Undertake analysis of the investment strategies identified for review (performance, holdings, peer group analysis etc) and conduct interviews with key decision makers. Prepare written investment due diligence reports in support of research rating recommendations. Sponsor the ratings of these products to the relevant Lead Research Committee (LRC), Ratings Review Committee (RRC), and with Mercers clients and consultants.

Broader research team:
Collaborate with and support other activities of the broader Manager Research team globally as required; including project work, evolving the research process, representing the research team in Australia and producing a broad range of investment analysis and white papers.

Client-facing work:
Ability to articulate Mercers research process, views on managers and building equity portfolios externally to clients, both existing and in new business situations.

Representing Mercer externally
: Representing Mercer within the investment management community and developing relationships with managers.


What you need to have:

Experience in the investment management industry preferred.
Decisive. Must be comfortable making decisions using qualitative analysis supported by some quantitative data.
Efficient. Capable of writing concise and logically argued research reports in a timely manner, sometimes to tight deadlines.
Sound intellect, capable of understanding conceptually complex issues and explaining them in terms that others can understand.
Has the ability to challenge portfolio managers directly and conduct meetings with investment managers.
Has the confidence to represent Mercer and the research process both internally and externally (including external speaking).
A team player, with sound interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to communicate views with confidence and to defend own point of view in debate.
Happy to work in an environment where written output is equally as important as verbal communication.
Stable record of employment showing a clear progression of responsibility.
Solid academic background.
Computer literate.
Must be prepared to do some administrative work as necessary.
