Service Line: Hospitality Capital Markets - Debt, Equity, Structured Finance, Investment Sales



Who you are


The Colliers Hospitality Practice Group specializes in institutional investment sales, joint venture equity, and debt and structured finance transactions. The capital markets position serves investors and owners of institutional hotel assets and portfolios throughout the Americas. Financing types include acquisition financing, refinancing, recapitalizations, and development.

Bachelors degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university in a business-related field.

Strong academic background with relevant coursework in finance, real estate, and hotel & hospitality management.

1-2 years of experience and/or training in real estate capital markets (investment banking, valuations & advisory services, commercial real estate lending, acquisitions, brokerage, etc.). Hotel experience is a plus.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint with the ability to create in-depth financial analysis via Excel models and presentation through PowerPoint.

Excellent financial modeling skills and attention to detail.

Experience managing, updating and analyzing large quantities of data; experience in visualizing data using various tools.

Familiarity with hotel financial statements; Smith Travel Research; USALI system; hotel brands; and franchise and management agreements.

Highly organized with an exceptional attention to detail.

Strong work ethic and initiative skills, with the ability and desire to understand the merits of a transaction, underlying business attributes and trends across the hospitality and capital markets sectors.

Strong professional judgement and decision-making skills with the ability to process and retain information in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to manage, distill, synthesize, and effectively present information and findings, including general understanding of legal documents including loan documents, hotel management agreements, franchise agreements, and lease agreements.


What success looks like


Maintain financial models and/or underwriting for use in evaluating potential disposition and financing assignments.

Conduct research and due diligence for current and prospective disposition and financing assignments including market analysis, competitive properties, review of industry related agreements, analyze past and future hotel performance.

Evaluate and analyze individual and portfolio financing, sale, and recapitalization opportunities by performing comprehensive financial modeling and sensitivity analyses.

Prepare marketing materials, including drafting content, market research, graphics coordination, and timeline management,

Possess strong communication skills, create concise written presentations and interface with the equity and debt communities and clients.

Assist with pre-marketing processes through transaction closing.

Approximate Salary Range for this Role: Commission Based

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
