Senior Java Developer - J2ee/oops

Job DescriptionJob Brief We are looking for someone that is excited by the opportunity to develop "greenfield" products using core Java and serverless methodologies. In addition, you will help build and mentor a small team of Java engineers that will be responsible for the ongoing development of these new products. Escalon is a rapidly growing company that provides essential back-office services such as accounting, HR, IT, etc. to thousands of clients around the world. As part of the engineering team you would be helping develop the products that empower overall business growth not only for Escalon but our clients. Responsibilities i. Design and develop "greenfield" Java-based back end systems that are highly-scalable and fault tolerant ii. Assist with the development and enforcement of Java coding standards via code reviews and static code analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube) iii. Help recruit and mentor a small but agile team of Java developers iv. Perform routine upgrades on both internal and. external Java libraries dependencies to patch known CVEs v. Write, execute, and maintain unit tests that ensures proper code coverage and testing vi. Encourage the usage of quality open-source libraries while being mindful of licensing and long term viability vii. Understand and utilize the existing DevOps pipeline for compilation and deployment. Requirements i. Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience in Java/J2EE. ii. Solid expertise in Object-oriented programming principles utilizing core Java functionality. iii. Experience in designing and developing loosely coupled serverless applications and REST APIs iv. Proficient in querying and designing SQL databases, with a preference towards Postgres v. Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Fargate, S3, RDS, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, Parameter Store, etc. vi. Ability to communicate technical ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing. vii. Familiarity with service-oriented architecture (SOA) design principles and best practices. viii. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. ix. Knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including version control, CI/CD, and unit testing.
