Position is for a Chemist (internal title: Research and Development Laboratory Technician) in the research and development department of a company that produces high-quality lubricant additives and firefighting chemicals. Duties include, but are not limited to: perform laboratory tests according to written procedures and as instructed by Research Scientists; document and report testing results and observations; maintain a clean and safe lab environment including the cleaning & maintenance of lab facility and equipment to ensure sterile work environment; clean chemical lab spills, safely and properly dispose of lab samples, raw materials, and lab chemicals in compliance with lab safety and environmental regulations; perform regular safety checks on laboratory equipment; receive, organize, inspect, and identify incoming test samples; regularly calibrate laboratory equipment; combining various raw materials in specific proportions to prepare different solutions for quality assurance testing, conducting chemical analysis, and fire testing; maintaining inventory log of raw materials and coordinating with production department to restock on raw materials; creating laboratory batches of products in various quantities up to 50 gallons per batch; formulating new firefighting products based on emerging market or environmental trends; and reformulating existing products based on changes in regulatory requirements/compliance. Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.
