NGL Holdings Ltd. O/A Dana Mandi Indian Restaurant is looking 2 Cooks to join them asap.
Work Location: 2095 5th Avenue, Prince George, BC, Canada
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full-time (35 to 40 hours a week)
Wage: $19.50 to $22 per hour (based on experience)
Job Duties:
1. Prepare a variety of Indian dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts.
2. Ensure that all dishes adhere to the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and authenticity.
3. Source and select fresh and high-quality ingredients for cooking.
4. Use traditional Indian cooking techniques, such as tempering, sautéing, frying, and grilling.
5. Ensure that cooking times and techniques are followed to maintain the quality of the dishes.
6. Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards.
7. Ensure that all food products are stored, handled, and prepared according to health and safety regulations.
8. Communicate effectively with servers and other staff to ensure a smooth flow of orders.
9. Handle special dietary requests or modifications to dishes as needed.
10. Monitor and maintain stock levels of ingredients, ensuring that there are enough supplies for daily operations.
11. Keep the kitchen area organized and clean, including proper storage of ingredients and kitchen tools.
12. Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, such as line cooks and prep cooks, as needed.
13. Minimize food wastage and work efficiently to control food costs.

Job Requirements:
• Education: No formal education required but high school graduation would be an asset
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in similar setting is required
• (Note: Applicants with culinary certificate or cooking diploma can be considered with less than 1 year experience)
• Language: Functional English is acceptable. Punjabi/Hindi would be an asset
• Essential Skills: Have a deep understanding of Indian spices, herbs, sauces, and other essential ingredients used in the cuisine
• Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, must be able to work under pressure, standing for extended periods, repetitive tasks and attention to detail
• Personal Suitability: organized, client focused, team player, able to use good judgement and reliable
