Food Technologist (Full-time)

Annual salary: $70,000 to $75,000, plus superannuation

We are proud to be a pioneer in dairy manufacturing in Australia and overseas, having started business in 1995 and growing successfully ever since. Our business involves the manufacturing and distribution of specialist and niche Indian dairy products for Indian shops and restaurants. We carefully select all our ingredients to ensure that we meet stringent standards of high quality, all natural, GMO and preservative free requirements.

As we are looking to further develop innovative products to diversify product availability and embrace new opportunities, we are now looking for a skilled Food Technologist to develop new products for us and ensure we consistently meet product benchmarks with our new processes.

Our Food Technologist will play a key role in our business, being responsible for improving our existing product processes, creating products, and implementing better practices to preserve product life in ways that meet safety and industry standards. You will help us ensure our strong reputation in the industry of delivering high-quality products to our wide clientele is maintained.

The types of duties and tasks you will carry out as Food Technologist at Sharmas Kitchen include:

Product sampling and testing to examine chemical compositions and reactive properties of products are correct and quality standards and benchmarks are being met e.g. PH levels of yoghurt, viscosity of drinks, milk solids in cheese.
Testing food products for flavour and nutritional content and testing raw materials to ensure correct standards are being supplied by our suppliers.
Developing new products (recipe creation) and conducting product trials.
Daily milk testing, including phosphatase testing, protein, fat & water measurement, bacteria testing.
Conducting research to develop and fine tune processes and thereby apply findings by experimenting and testing products under different states and conditions.
Milk Standardisation to ensure the correct chemical structure for consistent product quality is maintained.
Shelf-life testing and implementing quality control procedures to preserve product life throughout the supply-chain, including advising staff on effective ways on preserving foods.
Monitoring and implementing HACCP controls and procedures to ensure manufacturing of food products and other such processes always meet safety standards.
Investigating complaints and record keeping as per requirements of the Food Authority.

You should have:
A relevant bachelors degree at minimum;
At least 2 years closely related Food Technologist work experience with a reputable organisation;
Experience with conducting testing and sampling to ensure quality standards are met;
Experience developing new products and improving existing processes;
Preferably, prior experience working in the Indian dairy industry in a related role;
