Director of Data Science (Onsite)

We have an immediate need for a Director of Data Science to join one of the nation’s largest independent automotive parts retailers. The Director of Data Science will closely collaborate with an established analytics leadership team to define and deliver an analytics roadmap.

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Onsite)

This job expects to pay about $210,000 – 275,000 annually.

What You Will Do:

• Lead, coach, mentor, empower, and develop a team of professionals to conduct advanced analytics leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, data mining, data visualizations, simulation, and optimization
• Interpret disparate data/complex data sets/ structured and unstructured data and other techniques to deliver insights or develop analytical solutions to achieve business objectives.
• Act as a technical thought leader in collaboration with the analytics leadership team, helping to set the strategy and standards for data science and advanced analytics
• Work with senior leaders from all functions to explore opportunities for using advanced analytics
• Guide data scientists in the use of advanced statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methodologies, while also ensuring quality
• Partner with the Analytics Delivery and Technology leaders to enable appropriate data flow/data model, development tools/technology, rapid prototyping and inform the design of analytics products
• Partner with domain experts to verify model capabilities and translate modeling outputs from statistical inferences into business language

What Gets You The Job: 

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Administration with equivalent experience.
• 10 years of leadership experience developing advanced analytics organizations, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
• 7 years of hands-on experience developing Statistics, Machine learning, and AI solutions
• Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering data-driven solutions that have significantly impacted business outcomes.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work efficiently under pressure, accurately meet deadlines, present a professional demeanor, and work well independently and with teams.
• Customer service skills, including the ability to manage and respond to different customer situations while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude are essential.
