Transaction Lawyer Belfast (2-4 years PQE)


An exciting opportunity has come up for a junior-level, transaction lawyer looking to develop their career within a leading investments and professional services firm. You will join a global business of investment professionals and work closely with Mercer Alternatives legal, tax, compliance, and investment teams on a diverse range of private market transactions and marketing content reviews.


What can you expect:


Provide legal support and advice to investment teams on a range of private markets transactions, e.g., primaries, secondaries and co-investments,

Review and negotiate the transaction documentation with investment managers and their legal and tax advisors

We will count on you to:


Work closely with Mercer external legal counsel in relation to the above, where appropriate, to include managing timely delivery of projects and advice within agreed scope and budget

Assist with legal questions arising from investments in private equity funds, including tax and regulatory issues

Supporting the wider Legal and Compliance team with internal projects and processes


What you need to have:


Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience gained in a law firm or legal department of an asset or fund manager, in particular in the private markets industry.

Knowledge of closed-ended funds and how they operate.

Excellent organisational, drafting and negotiation skills.

Strong commercial acumen with an ability to deliver clear and pragmatic solutions.

Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment, manging multiple deadlines and tasks.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations well.

Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation.

Able to take initiative, is proactive and confidently able to take ownership of matters and develop self.

A team player that offers to help colleagues and shares workload.

Enthusiastic and looking to develop a long-term career in-house.
