Torrent is seeking candidates for the following position based in Overland Park, KS.


Underwriting Supervisor



What can you expect?


Supervises and leads a highly skilled team who supports our client-facing colleagues.

Reviews, analyzes and evaluates performance for Underwriting colleagues.

Identifies opportunities to increase efficiency in processes and recommends improvements.

Drives continuous improvement for the department as well as the company.

Works closely with other Underwriting Supervisors to coordinate the servicing of flood insurance policies.

Partners with other departments to increase collaboration across the business and insure timely resolution of questions.

We will count on you to:


Oversee day-to-day operational activities and measure and report on team productivity and individual performance while providing feedback and coaching to ensure a productive and engaged team.

Escalation point for UW issues. Manage escalated calls, complaints, questions, and queries as necessary.

Secondary UW point of contact for FEMA regarding NFIP Direct.

Provide coaching/mentoring and support to direct reports.

Assist with workforce management and scheduling.

Monitors individual and team production and quality, and measures performance against SLA requirements.

Proactively intervenes when needed to ensure SLA requirements are met.

Review and provide feedback regarding Underwriting Standard Operating Procedures.

Special projects as assigned by Operations Director or Senior Underwriting Manager.


What you need to have:


Flood insurance underwriting experience

Supervisory experience

Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Good organizational and time management skills to multi-task and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines

Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency - knowledge of basic Excel formulas, pivot tables, PowerPoint and Outlook

3+ years of supervisory experience preferred

3+ years of increasing levels flood insurance Underwriting experience preferred
