Summary Job Description: Responsible for maintenance and repairs of the facility and equipment.

Job Functions and Functional Job Task Elements

Task #1: Facility Repairs and Maintenance:
This task varies on a day to day basis based on operational needs.
Receives work orders from supervisor.
Responsible for building and machine maintenance and repairs.
Could be required to lift up to 50# frequently and 75-100 # on a rare occasion.
Primarily lift a weight of 25-50 lbs on an occasional basis per hour from floor to waist and waist to overhead.
Can also be exposed to vibration through bilateral hands if using power tools for prolonged periods of time.
Need to have use of bilateral upper and lower extremities and have fluid or functional ROM of the neck and trunk.
Need to be able to climb, crawl, crouch, bend, squat, and stoop on an occasional basis throughout the day.
Can be required to work in awkward positions for prolonged periods of time.
The employee could be required to work off ladders or man lift and work with arms overhead for sustained periods of time to repair cranes, etc.
A variety of tools requiring fine and gross motor coordination of bilateral hands may be needed.
Responsible for machine log out/tag out, etc.
Repair doors, windows, roof, etc.
Need to be able to walk on a continuous basis for tasks on even an uneven terrain on the grounds.
Responsible for completing maintenance logs as required.
Needs to be able to complete equipment checklists, read manuals, blue prints and troubleshoot for repairs.
Responsible for maintaining and repairing sprinkler system, infrared heater, furnace, etc.
Retrieves parts needed for repairs from storeroom.
Interacts with outside vendors for parts ordering or repairs.
Keeps area and tools clean and organized.

Task #2: Welding/Cutting:
Portable welder utilized to weld specific parts.
Utilizes torch for cutting as needed.
This task requires sustained neck flexion.
Arc welding is performed in a standing capacity and the trigger is operated by sustained hand grasping.
Employee flexes or side bends at trunk and forward reaches to gather parts.
Need to have the functional use of bilateral arms and legs.
Needs to frequently, squat, bend, kneel and sustain awkward positions.
Change welding wire, tips, and nozzles.

Shift: 8 hour shifts, (all 3 shifts) but could be more based on operational needs.
Breaks: 30 minute lunch.
Flooring: Cement, wooden platforms, rubber mats. Variable when accessing the outdoors.
Lighting: Adequate overhead lighting.
Environment: Foundry and machine shop environment. Need to be careful with other employees while moving overhead cranes in the vicinity. Exposed to ambient temperatures outdoors year round.
Safety Equipment: Hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes.
Strength Range: Medium-Heavy strength range.
Tools and Equipment: All basic hand and power tools, ladders, manuals, prints, dolly, mills, lathes, welder, welding gloves/hood/sleeves, fire resistant jacket, 35 foot lift, harness, lanyards, etc. This list is not all-inclusive.
