Auditing clerks collect and examine financial data, such as inventory transactions, for organisations and companies and ensure they are accurate, properly maintained, and that they add up. They review the numbers in databases and documents, evaluate, and consult and assist the source of the transaction if necessary, which includes accountants, managers or other clerks.

Responsibilities:

Assist in conducting financial audits, including the preparation and maintenance of audit workpapers, documentation, and supporting schedules.
Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures to assess the accuracy and completeness of financial statements and related disclosures.
Assist in evaluating internal controls, identifying control weaknesses, and recommending improvements to enhance operational efficiency and mitigate risk.
Collaborate with audit team members to develop audit plans, execute testing procedures, and present findings to management.
Assist in the preparation and review of tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
Research and analyze tax-related issues, staying updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, and making recommendations to ensure compliance and optimize tax benefits.
Assist in responding to tax notices, inquiries, and audits from tax authorities, gathering required documentation and providing necessary support.
Support the finance team in month-end and year-end closing activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting as needed.
Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for audits and tax filings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication and coordination of financial information and reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1-2 years of experience in audit, taxation, or accounting roles.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and tax regulations.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
Professional certification is a plus.
