We have partnered with an Engineering and Consulting Firm in the Concord, NH area to provide them with a Geotechnical Project Engineer.
Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Geotechnical Project Engineer:
#1 Bachelor of Sciences degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in a Civil Engineering curriculum with a strong concentration in geotechnical engineering or equivalent applicable curriculum is required.
#2.Three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, is the recommended minimum.
#3. 40 HR Hazwoper and 8hr refresher course required.
#4. EIT is required and a PE or PG license is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities of the Geotechnical Project Engineer:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. You will collaborate with team members and others to effectively execute assignments. You will collect soil and rock samples both individually and as part of a field team; operate, calibrate, and maintain necessary field equipment and instruments; and perform routine personnel and instrument decontamination.
You will serve as Site Safety Officer, when applicable, or field engineer, after demonstration of site knowledge and position knowledge, including respect of peers. You may be required to direct field technicians and other staff during field work and coordinate work tasks. Collect necessary field data through observation or basic field data collection techniques using field instruments such as field survey equipment, tape measures, falling head permeameter, sieve analyses, cameras, pumps, data loggers, and other instruments as needed.
With direction, you will review, evaluate, and interpret engineering reports, engineering design drawings, maps, specifications, regulations, ordinances, field test results, design manuals, aerial photographs, and other data necessary for geotechnical engineering projects.
You will communicate technical information with equipment and materials vendors, accurately document such communications, and apply the information obtained to the relevant project work.
With direction, you will perform geotechnical classification of soils and rocks, field test, and prepare boring logs using appropriate standards of geologic assessment. You will also observe test pits, soil borings, and/or rock cores, and record all observations of site conditions, weather, staffing, subcontractors, and pertinent technical information. Select samples for geotechnical and/or environmental laboratory testing.
With direction, observe and/or inspect project sites prior to, during, or after construction to monitor and/or assess construction progress, and ensure conformance with engineering plans, specifications, regulations, and accepted construction and safety standards. Prepare written construction and observation summaries.
Visit project sites and evaluate ongoing construction practices by meeting and talking with construction contractors and subcontractors, owners, regulators, and other consultants, and prepare written construction inspection and observation summaries. May be required to direct field technicians and other staff during field work and to coordinate work tasks.
Use engineering software and computer hardware necessary to complete engineering analysis, hydrogeologic analysis, and engineering design projects. Software may include GIS, and software for CADD, seismic site classifications, axial and lateral pile and drilled shafts, pile driving, sheetpile wall design, slope stability, settlement, hydrogeologic, boring logs, and spreadsheet applications including for bearing capacity and soil liquefaction susceptibility.

Requirements for the Geotechnical Project Engineer:
Bachelor of Sciences degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in a Civil Engineering curriculum with a strong concentration in geotechnical engineering or equivalent applicable curriculum is required.
Three (3) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience, is the recommended minimum.
A Master of Science (M.S.) degree is desirable.
Must possess a valid drivers license, have own transportation, and be able to travel for project site visits, meetings, data collection, and training. Travel is highly dependent upon project work requirements and may be extensive at times.
Must possess EIT designation. Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is encouraged.
Must demonstrate active involvement and engagement in subsequent sequential education (e.g., Master's degree, Toastmasters), professional societies (e.g., ASCE, PGS, LSPA), preparation of technical papers related to work assignments, and/or other activities that strengthen and broaden the employee's and Nobis technical positions.
Is familiar with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations including current applicable sections of building codes and AASHTO LRFD bridge design specifications as they apply to project work and basic calculations.
Other Key Requirements:
Hybrid role working at least 3 days a week in the office.
