Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  • Evaluates high level requirements from demand managers, analysts, other architects and business partners for completeness and accuracy.
  • Engages with project teams and business partners across all spectrums of business to triage requests and determine solution options.
  • Supports Enterprise Architecture and Infrastructure Architecture teams to develop enterprise strategies, blueprints, roadmaps, and provides governance services for those strategies,
  • Develops, documents, and presents solutions to members of multiple architecture, development and infrastructure teams for purposes of solution development and or the gathering/refining of estimates.
  • Leads and drives solution discussions both with business and other IT personnel.
  • Drives and provides technical leadership for cross-functional projects from design through to deployment as needed.
  • When required, leads the vendor evaluation process to evaluate technical capabilities of vendors on behalf of Quest Diagnostics. Works with other architecture and development organizations to perform vendor and technology assessments in support of project requests. Prepares and presents formal vendor evaluation artifacts.
  • Provides input to RFPs and RFIs being presented to or developed by Quest Diagnostics on behalf of the IT organization.
  • Organizes and leads cross-functional discussions within the IT and business organizations in support of solution development.
  • Guides and directs cross-functional project teams throughout project execution life cycle.
  • Ensures both requests and solutions are in alignment with strategic goals.
  • Manages solutions across multiple initiatives and teams simultaneously.
  • Creates and presents solutions with varying options covering both tactical and strategic needs, as necessary.
  • Rules on technical or architectural disputes
  • Represents Architecture and/or IT organization in discussions with senior management and third parties (vendors, clients, joint venture partners, internal and external.)
  • Provides technical and business guidance to members of the other architecture and development organizations.
  • Ensures adherence to established standards and processes.
  • Provides managers with technical performance assessments.
  • Recognizes new/evolving trends and ensures personal growth and skill maintenance as a contributor. Analyzes innovative technologies to resolve business problems.
  • Works with vendors to better understand how features and interfaces of outside applications can facilitate the fulfillment of customer requests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provides deliverables like standard definitions, reference models, and architecture designs to support architectural governance to assess the impact of new and ongoing technology investment on the business and IT estate (note: The level of detail and complexity in deliverables would vary depending on a solutions architects level of responsibility in the organization chart)
  • Supports a community of practice (CoP), guiding and helping agile teams' product owners align with the overall enterprise architecture governance and assurance.
  • Design and direct the governance activities to ensure solutions architecture assurance and compliance.
  • Defines the principles, guidelines, standards, and patterns to ensure solution decisions align with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.

Example deliverables: Research results, High Level Solution Sketches with options and rationale, Solution Architecture Documents, Solution Diagrams, High Level Architecture, Logical and Physical Architecture, Standards Documents, Roadmap Documents, Reference Architectures, Level Of Effort estimation documents, Quest Board review presentations, progress reports, and peer review and feedback.




Preferred candidate profile


Required Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated IT design and/or architecture experience.
  • 9+ years demonstrated experience in Laboratory IT environment working with enterprise level systems.
  • 10-15 years experience working in large-scale, heterogeneous IT environments.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated architecture experience in Google cloud.

Preferred Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of demonstrated IT design and/or architecture experience in GCP, AWS, and Azure clouds
  • Demonstrated AI/ML experience in the past year and 2-3 years prior.

  • Expert level domain knowledge of on-prem data centers, AWS, Azure, and Google clouds.
  • Expert level Architectural experience on prem and in AWS, Azure, and Google cloud.
  • Architectural, Software SDLC
  • Project management in water and agile frameworks.

Skills:

  • Has deep technical expertise in one or more technology domains
  • Demonstrated in depth understanding of multiple enterprise level and strategic applications supporting the multiple business functions (Lab, Commercial, Sales, Marketing etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to influence with credibility across business functions or technologies with analysis (based on prior experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to represent IT in senior management level discussions and with third parties.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language.
  • Strong leadership, project and team building skills ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver under tight timelines with minimal oversight and input
  • Strong collaborator willingness to share ideas, documentation, and best practices.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinker ability to extract, analyze and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies from customers and IT team members.
