The team at Mercer is looking to fill the following position to be located either in the Urbandale office or at a respective Mercer location in a hybrid setting.

Our Scaled Agile and Engineering Transformations are transforming our delivery and are based on structuring IT teams in cohorts of high performing Pods and Squads while ensuring a transition to technical excellence. The transformations are key tools in driving higher quality, better flow and operational efficiencies.


What can you expect:

We in Product Delivery Engineering are on a mission to transform the way our Mercer business and IT teams work together, and the way we deliver value to our customers. This is done in order to unlock the benefits of rapid delivery of quality, secure software to market by empowered, high performing, T-shaped teams.
We will do this by rolling out our Scaled Agile Delivery model, and upskilling our engineering and QA organization and processes to transform the way we work.
You will be responsible for managing this transformation, while contributing as an SME Product Owner to the Agile Coaches in the Agile part of the transformation.
You will also be line managing the Pod Leads who manage delivery and help roll out the transformation; you will be a point of escalation for blockers and impediments for delivery or transformation.

We will count on you to:

Be responsible for leading Mercer Global Technology's Agile Delivery Leaders - specifically our Pod and Squad Leads
You will be as a Scaled Agile SME Product Owner to plan and co-ordinate the activities of Agile Coached within Mercer
Behave as an inspirational leader who embraces an Agile and transformation mindset and drives, coaches and transforms traditional delivery teams into adopting and living Agile behaviours and processes, plus Engineering and QA excellence
You will work well as part of the PDE leadership team and build high performing teams yourself
Our Pod leaders are accountable to our Technical Product Management Teams for the delivery and resourcing of our Pods and we pride ourselves on building world class teams you will line manage them
Ensure our team members need to have the right combination of people with T shaped and cross functional experience and backgrounds
You will be a coach for our Global Technology Engineering Leadership teams and be able to provide coaching on an as needs basis to senior members of other Technology and business teams in support of our overall Transformation Strategy
Maintain and manage an overall department transformation roadmap, consisting of Agile transformation activities together with Engineering / QA transformation activities
Work with the Head of Engineering and Head of PDE to understand and include Engineering and QA Transformation activities to include in the overall roadmap.
Input into Vendor Strategy and implementation; ensuring our vendors are fit for purpose and supply the correct resources for the cross-functional teams we are building


What you need to have:

Significant organizational Agile and Engineering transformation experience and be able to demonstrate proven strategies
Be a recognized Agile and Transformation Expert, intimately familiar with the processes and practices required for optimal flow and sustainable delivery
Experience of complex technological landscapes and large portfolios of revenue generating applications
Experience and knowledge of IT security processes and tools, and legislative requirements to protect customers and their data
You will be expected to have a broad technical understanding to support your Agile credentials from software architecture through test, DevOps practices, security and operational run
A metrics driven approach to delivery improvement analysis to drive out systems and processes that help define and report on the metrics we believe to be important
Excellent stakeholder management skills - as we work to transform the Mercer IT and Business into a truly Agile and high performing organisation you will need to influence and coach senior executives, many of whom will not be experienced in, nor keen supporters of, Agile and transformation
You will be collaborative, inquisitive and interested in technology and best practices
Someone who lives and breathes continuous improvement and embeds it in their day to day work
Determination and energy to resolve key blockers and impediments to both delivery and transformation


What makes you stand out:

Significant experience of a wide range of technology roles is desirable, ideally with some form of senior Program deliver background.
Rounded and holistic understanding of Scaled Agile Methodologies such as SAFe, (e-mail removed), LeSS, & scaled agile qualifications like SPC and ICP-ACC Certifications.
Experience of managing transformations.

All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one anchor day per week on which their full team will be together in person.


The applicable base salary range for this role is $168,200 to $336,500.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
