Supervisor - Accounting Operations Witham

We have a great opportunity at Marsh & McLennan Companies for a highly capable Supervisor to join our business and support the continued growth of our Accounting Operations centre. Based in Witham, Essex, but part of a global team, the support this position provides will be vital in maintaining and developing the track record of success MMC has in ensuring all month-end and quarter-end deliverables are met.

We will count on you to:


Be a leader within the team to ensure a culture of high performance

Ensuring all queries are resolved, engaging with the wider business and other stakeholders

Undertake forward, strategic thinking always looking to exceed targets and expectations

Take responsibility for AO service delivery model ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met

Undertake Perform and Grow conversations with direct reports to discuss performance, check in and collaborate on goal setting

Monitor workload and projects of team members to ensure projects are aligned by resources, capacity and skills required

Deliver internal and external audit requests within agreed timescales

Maintain proper account reconciliation in accordance with GAAP and (if applicable) statutory and regulatory reporting requirements in order to ensure control environment and the timely and accurate delivery of financial information to corporate accounting colleagues

Identify areas for improvements and lead process improvement efforts ensuring compliance to Global Process

Carry out Exception reporting and perform checks prior to issuing

Ensure timely investigation and resolution of any exception items

Ensure all month-end and quarter-end deliverables are met

Assist with other ad-hoc tasks, projects and initiatives as required

Assist with current and future accounting operation transitions

Ensure training needs for team members on and offshore are assessed and delivered



What you need to have:


Proven experience as supervisor or relevant role within a similar shared services environment

Effective team player who can keep the team engaged whilst trying to improve the department

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with both clients and colleagues in a fast moving professional team environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including advanced Excel

Ability to manage your work efficiently

Appreciation for the importance of timely, complete and accurate tasks

Calm under pressure

Strong financial and analytical skills

Meticulous eye for detail
