Position : 5G Waveform and FPGA Programmer/EngineerLocation : Denver, CO (Onsite) Job Description: Working with 5G waveforms and FPGA programming requires a specialized skills and knowledge of both wireless communications and digital hardware design.Waveform Development:Design, develop, and optimize 5G waveforms, including both physical layer (PHY) and protocol layer (MAC) functionalities.Implement waveform algorithms to meet 5G standards and performance requirements.Perform simulations and modeling to evaluate the performance of developed waveforms.FPGA Programming:Develop FPGA-based solutions for implementing 5G waveforms and associated signal processing functions.Utilize hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL or Verilog) to program FPGAs for specific 5G applications.Optimize FPGA designs for resource utilization, power efficiency, and real-time performance.Signal Processing:Implement digital signal processing (DSP) techniques for various aspects of 5G waveforms, such as modulation, coding, synchronization, and equalization.Analyze and mitigate impairments in the wireless channel, including fading, interference, and noise.Performance Optimization:Identify bottlenecks and optimize the computational efficiency of FPGA-based solutions.Fine-tune algorithms and hardware designs to meet latency, throughput, and quality-of-service (QoS) requirements.Testing and Validation:Develop testbenches and perform functional and performance testing of FPGA-based 5G implementations.Debug and troubleshoot hardware and waveform issues to ensure correctness and reliability.Documentation:Create detailed documentation for FPGA designs, waveform algorithms, and test procedures.Maintain version control of FPGA code and documentation.Qualifications:Bachelor s or master s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Ph.D. may be required for research-focused positions.Proficiency in 5G wireless communication standards, including NR (New Radio) and 5G core network architecture.Strong knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) theory and practical implementation.Experience with FPGA programming using hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog.Familiarity with FPGA development tools, such as Xilinx Vivado or Client Quartus Prime.Understanding of wireless communication protocols and PHY/MAC layer functionalities.Proficiency in using simulation tools like MATLAB, Simulink, or similar tools for waveform design and analysis.Knowledge of wireless channel modeling and simulation techniques.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware and waveform issues.Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and project management tools.Ability to stay updated with the latest developments in 5G technology and FPGA hardware.Optional Skills:Experience with software-defined radio (SDR) platforms and tools.Familiarity with high-level synthesis (HLS) tools for FPGA development.Knowledge of real-time operating systems (RTOS) for embedded systems.This job description outlines the skills and qualifications needed for a role focused on 5G waveforms and FPGA programming.
