Responsible to lead the adoption of Apache Spark and Databricks and provide technical leadership in a pre-sales and post-sales capacity for customers to support successful understanding, evaluation and adoption of Databricks; Partner with the sales team and help customers understand how Databricks can help achieve their business problems; Consult on Big Data architecture, implement proof of concepts for strategic customer projects, data science and machine learning projects, and validate integrations with cloud services and other 3rd party applications; Build and present references architectures and demo applications for customers, become an expert in, and promote Databricks inspired open-source projects (Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, and Koalas) across developer communities through meetups, conferences, and webinars. Detailed job duties: Work with the customers to understand the business and technical requirements; Develop success criteria to evaluate Databricks. Develop a project plan to execute the evaluation. Advise and manage the Databricks implementation. Consult on architecture and design, bootstrap, and/or implement strategic customer projects including: Work with the customer to understand the current state architecture. Work with the customer to develop a future state architecture and how Databricks fits into the future state. Develop a reference architecture describing best practices in running Databricks applications in AWS / Azure / GCP. Create demonstrations as small prototype applications in Databricks to provide examples for customers. Diagnosis open customer issues. Document and manage risks during the engagement. Escalate issues to the engineering team as needed. Triage and prioritize feature requests. Work with and/or build connectors to 3rd party applications. Evaluate 3rd party application integration options with the customer. Present technical talks to customers or at meetups and conferences. Create technical content including videos, blog posting, or slide decks for customers to evangelize Databricks technologies. $182,187 - $200,000 per year. Minimum job requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Business Analytics or any engineering major and at least five years of experience. Will accept Master’s degree plus three years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience. Must have experience in the following areas: Distributed application framework-Apache Spark; programming experience with at least one of the following: Python, Scala, Java or R; API Design and implementation; Experience with at least one of the following cloud architecture: AWS, Azure or GCP; Data Warehouse design and Data Modeling; Experience with SQL and Hadoop. May telecommute from any US location. Travel to customer sites required as assigned by employer (approximately 25% travel to various unanticipated customer sites throughout the US).
