Responsibilities:

• Maintaining safety during loading and unloading operations by using appropriate safety equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots
• Reporting any accidents or injuries that occur on the job site to supervisors
• Inspecting trucks before and after work to ensure they are functioning properly
• Collecting garbage cans from residences or businesses and transporting them to the dump site
• Performing basic maintenance tasks such as changing the oil in the trucks engine or replacing tires
• Operating trucks fitted with specialized equipment such as compaction equipment, forklifts, and cranes
• Communicating with supervisors regarding pick up schedules and route changes
• Collecting recyclables from businesses and homes, including cardboard boxes and paper products such as cans and bottles
• Collecting and disposing of hazardous materials such as paint, gasoline, pesticides, and cleaning products
