We are seeking a Maintenance Reliability Engineer to join an exciting, multi-site, food manufacturer.  As a company that cares about the development of its employees, filling this role offers the potential for longitudinal growth!  Answering to the Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for the project management of the design and construction of water, sewer, gas, ammonia, steam, and electrical system projects.

Location: Central San Joaquin Valley, CA

Job Responsibilities:


  • Review plans for new construction projects to ensure they comply with local codes and regulations.
  • Conduct research and analysis of existing utility systems to determine if improvements are required and feasible.
  • Plan and design new utility systems, such as water and sewer lines, or power lines.
  • Partner with contractors to develop plans for new construction projects and review plans to ensure that they meet engineering standards.
  • Partner with contractors to coordinate project startup and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Conduct inspections at construction sites to ensure that work is progressing according to plans.
  • Perform required testing of equipment to ensure that it is working properly.
  • Manage facility and utility improvement projects, equipment modifications, and upgrades.
  • Provide engineering support to Plant operations (overall facilities, utilities, equipment, etc.) and lead plant shutdowns.
  • Schedule and coordinate adequate coverage for the department, depending on the business needs.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager to create facilities operating / capital budgets per production forecast and site objectives.
  • Provide engineering support to operations and maintenance teams on various Utilities and Production equipment and systems.
  • Initiate and implement capital improvement projects with a focus on Utilities/Power and Maintenance/Reliability.
  • Partner with EHS Manager to develop and implement management systems to improve compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS).
  • Ensure EHS compliance of equipment (including safe and environmentally compliant operation).
  • Support site safety and training initiatives (maintain maintenance/engineering job procedures, participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) incident investigations).

Required Skills/Qualifications:  


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
  • 5 + years of project engineering experience in facilities, utilities, and production machinery


  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • Sound technical leadership and in-depth knowledge of plant utility system interdependencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to design new systems, troubleshoot and determine the root cause of problems, implement corrective and preventative actions, and provide optimization strategies for utility systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a changing, complex environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and proven attention to detail. 
  • Acclimates and adapts to business acumen quickly and can think strategically as demonstrated through prior experience.
  • Demonstrates well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities, both within and outside the company.
  • Strong financial and budgetary skills.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing contractor relationships and driving results during project execution.
  • Team player who can create and foster cross-functional relationships internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including developing and writing equipment specifications, user requirement specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, capital projects (DA’s), and proposals for integrating new machinery utilities into the site.

Salary:


  • $90,000 - $110,000 per year
