Design processes and systems to improve quality and productivity, working to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, man-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. The type of systems, machinery, and equipment designed, developed, and troubleshot are aluminum extrusion hydraulic presses and the associated feeding/handling
equipment. Work on process equipment onsite upstream and downstream of the extrusion presses as necessary (casting, fabrication, anodize, paint). Work with equipment operated via PLCs/PACs (Programmable Logic/Automation Controllers). Design improvements/modifications to new and/or existing automation controls systems, including both physical changes such as wiring upgrades, electrical component replacement, and adjustment, as well as software changes necessary to support the improvements/modifications. Troubleshoot any electrical or controls issues that may arise on site. Solve complex and highly technical engineering problems. Assist in troubleshooting problems on new and existing equipment. Maintain a high level of creativity and autonomy and be able to improve and maintain new and existing processes. Improve current processes and optimize efficiency and profitability. Create work instructions, control plans, conduct process flow/failure analysis. Lead and coordinate activities with cross functional teams for process improvement goals. Develop control systems that improve safety, productivity and quality of production line. Guide technical staff through repairs and improvements of manufacturing equipment. Ensure safety standards are met.

Education and experience requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or a mechanical or maintenance engineering-related occupation. Position requires prior acquisition of the following skills:
• Technical engineering and design skills for installation, modification, and improvement of equipment and machinery;
• AC and DC electrical systems up to 480 volts including hands-on activities;
• Allen Bradley PLCs, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio, Ladder Logic, Function Block, Sequential Function Charts, Structured Text;

• AC Drives and motor controls;

• Ethernet/IP networking;

• Root Cause Failure Analysis; and

• Preventive and Corrective maintenance.
