With a focus on AUB’s North American constituencies, defines the visual identity system for various touch points including publications, signage, advertisements and video according to
the core values and strategic goals of the university (15%); Implements strategic advertising and marketing campaign promoting AUB to alumni, donors, friends and academic partners in the United States (10%); Designs the key, AUB centric communication material (digital/print/display), ensuring coordinated visual identity implementation with the Beirut Communications team (10%); Directs design and layout of all communication material produced for the New York Office (15%); Designs major brochures, booklets, posters, and other key university material targeted for internal and external audiences in North America, with a focus on developing the visual identity for fundraising campaigns, including design and layout of templates for interiors and exteriors of journals, newsletters, invitations, and various publication series (10%); Supervises the design of contracted designers by the Office of Communications (5%); Defines and maintains the AUB visual identity through applied guidelines and policies (5%); Embraces and implements the administration’s strategic vision for the institution (10%); Propagates, educates, and forces the proper usage of AUB visual identity policies across all mediums and interfaces (web, workshops, and one-on-one) (3%); Coordinates closely with the web unit in Beirut to keep in sync branding, communication messages and visuals across print and online media for North America (2%); Maintains close working relationship with vendors, printers, photographers, and freelance designers; evaluates vendor bids and quality of vendor products and/or work (5%); Regularly evaluates submission guidelines (clients and vendors) to ensure efficient interface with new technologies and keeps abreast of current technologies, trends, and practices in layout, design, and production (3%); Supervises and maintains appropriate systems for storing archiving, and retrieving design material (5%); and Ensures that any design equipment’s technical/hardware/software problems are resolved (2%).
Seven (7) years of team management experience in graphic and digital design for a university or college in their communications department; and seven (7) years of design experience for a Middle East and North American audience and Proficiency with Adobe Creative suite (Photo creating and editing in Adobe Photoshop, vector graphics in Illustrator, desktop publishing in InDesign) and working knowledge in Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
Master's Degree or its foreign equivalent in Art Direction or a substantially related field.
Salary information: $137,000-$139,000, depending upon experience
