Universal Presentation Concepts (UPC) is looking to hire full-time Store Display and Cabinet Makers to join our team at our Madison, WI facility to build new retail store fixtures for home appliances, custom cabinets, and point of purchase (POP) displays in our custom studio. What will my day look like?

As a Store Display & Cabinet Maker, you play a critical role in our ability to manufacture custom retail store fixtures for our customers at the high level of quality we are known for. We continue to grow as a respected company because we have been able to find and retain skilled and reliable on-site craftsmen like you. You are serious about your job and take pride in your work.

You read work orders and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine your sequence of work. You use a variety of techniques to assemble components into finished products according to customer specifications. As part of the process, you safely and proficiently utilize various equipment necessary for your work including hand tools, table saws, routers, and measuring tools. You also have an understanding of how to laminate and use knockdown hardware.

You record tracking information for time spent, materials used, and issues encountered. You also maintain a clean and safe work environment. You are a team player who receives feedback professionally and is always willing to help or mentor others. Your positive can-do attitude makes you a pleasure to work with. You love working with your hands and appreciate the detail work required to turn out a high-quality item. You feel accomplished as your skills as a craftsman continue to grow.

Responsibilities:

Must have experience in laminating, finishing, adhesive use, and critical measurements and assembly.
Must be able to read technical drawings
Must be able to work with hand tools, table saws, routers, sanders, and measuring tools.
This individual will be working with engineered materials such as particle board, MDF, various plastics, as well as with solid woods.
Able to multitask
Able to create take offs from drawings and or blueprints.
Maintains a clean work environment.
Prepare articles for finishing.
Package product.
Ensures quality in all products.
Communicates with Management at all levels to ensure the highest quality product is produced within the production goal set.
Follows the rules and established written policies.
Follows documentation processes such as costing studies, and quality procedures.
Follows safety policies and procedures.
Ability to cross train in other departments as required.
Other related duties as may be assigned.
What experience and skills do I need to be successful?

2 years of experience with all shop tools used to make cabinets including hand tools, table saws, routers, measuring tools, etc.
1 year of experience in woodworking including furniture or cabinet making
Experience working with engineered materials such as particle board, MDF, various plastics, as well as with solid woods.
Ability to work on your feet, lift heavy objects up to 70 lbs., and perform the other physical aspects of custom cabinet manufacturing
Familiarity with manufacturing processes is desired
What will my schedule look like?

This is an hourly role generally working Monday-Friday on first shift. We can be flexible on start and end times as long as you are meeting business needs. Hourly team members typically work 40 hours each week and during high business need, overtime is offered on Saturdays.
