Primary Office: Mother of Mercy Free Medical Clinic, Woodbridge
Hours per Week: 40
Starting Hourly Salary: $21.59 (Non-exempt)

Position Description:
Responsible for providing nursing care to the patience under the direction of the health care provider.

Position Responsibilities:
Respects client and employee rights and privacy ensures security of protected information, practices, in an ethical manner and is compliant to the agencys compliance program and privacy policy
Plans and coordinates patient care according to each patients needs.
Patient intakes: records patient medical history and physical condition.
Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
Provides routine care for patients; reviews and maintains medical charts.
Assists physicians and registered nurses.
Communicates with patients and their families.
Prepares and administers injections, assists with EKGs, Point of Care testing, OB exams
Prepares specimens for lab courier.
Provides patient with health education, medication review, and provider referrals
Helps clients access the healthcare system by aiding with scheduling appointments, coordination with pharmacies, and linkage to other providers as needed
Performs selected nursing and administrative duties, and assists physicians as required
Prepares, cleans, and maintains exam and treatment rooms
Maintains Patient Drug Assistance Program medication records
Prepares and maintains clinical supplies and equipment
Assists with answering the telephone, providing information as requested and screening calls
Assists with scheduling tests and treatments for patients
Treats staff, volunteers, and patients with love, dignity and respect
Follows agencys policy and procedure regarding infection control measures through proper handwashing, bag technique, use of Personal Protective Equipment, principles of antiseptic technique, exposure control/reporting, care of equipment, safe needle technique
Performs other related work as required

Other Duties:
Maintain current BLS/CPR certification
Ability to work under pressure with a diverse population, including staff, volunteers, clients, patients and other members of the public on a regular basis.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and volunteers.
The position may cause frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other conditions common to a clinical environment
Qualifications & Skills:
Ability to fully communicate in ENGLISH/SPANISH both orally and in writing.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to take vitals, perform point of care testing and use other medical equipment
Ability to educated patients of their medical diagnosis
Ability to maintain medical records and record test results
Ability to use critical thinking skills to address patients questions, concerns and issues as they arise
Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
Ability to use good reasoning and judgement and react calmly in emergency situations
Knowledge of medical practice and care.
Knowledge of medical equipment, diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Commitment to the mission, goals, and services of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington.
Computer literate, including the ability to learn and use program specific software
Skill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma and job experience in a clinical setting
BLS certification/CPR certification
One year experience in clinical setting, preferred
