Job Description:
• Provide instructional plans to secondary school level students, which include–but are not limited to–written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional program;
• Establish positive learning expectation standards for all pupils, evaluate pupils’ progress, and maintain current and accurate records of pupils’ achievements;
• Implement instructional methods, which includes–but is not limited to–application of contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology that draws from the range of instructional materials available in the school;
• Participation in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques and provide bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils’ current work;
• Exhibit and apply knowledge of the curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level;
• Participate in programs to promote student attendance;
• Promote anti-vandalism programs in schools, and establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct consistent with the provisions of the CPS’s Uniform Discipline Code within the classroom and on school grounds, including—but not limited to—playgrounds, corridors, and lunchrooms;
• Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts;
• Encourage student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept;
• Ensure fairness in teacher-pupil relationships and exhibit an understanding and respect for students;
• Initiate appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and/or ancillary personnel in accordance with school procedures;
• Communicate with parents/guardians and counsel pupils on their academic progress, attendance, and conduct;
• Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings and use pertinent information and materials provided; and,
• Coordinate and attend class field trips, and work in extracurricular and after-school activities.

The requirements for this position are as follows: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a field of study that prepares for a career in teaching or its equivalent, and an Illinois Professional Educator’s License or Educator License with Stipulations with an endorsement in Spanish for grades K through 12. Must have the ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish.
