Population Health Data Senior Associate (athenahealth, Inc.; Boston, MA): As the Population Health Data Senior Associate, the individual will serve athenahealth by utilizing the company’s proprietary process and maintaining the tools that transform data from a wide variety of sources into a standardized format that supports analysis and produces actionable insights. As a member of the Data Services team, the Population Health Data Senior Associate will tackle large data problems and build processes and tools that will help our organization scale, and will assist managers, teams, and other stakeholders with process improvement efforts. The Population Health Data Senior Associate will work to conquer the complexity and messiness of data from payers, EMRs, and labs to truly make an impact on healthcare. The Population Health Data Senior Associate will be responsible for: supporting the seamless flow of data from source to front-end applications by using SQL and other tools to monitor and analyze data in order to explain performance variation and trends as client data is migrated into athenahealth’s systems; and by proactively identifying, researching, understanding, and working with feed data/programming structure to resolve issues that impact client success; leveraging and building test plans and metrics to validate the success of the team; holding responsibility for reconciling routine data feeds to system published data; acting as a Subject-Matter-Expert with regard to analysis and understanding of source data; providing updates to internal team, managers, and other internal stakeholders around the structure of client data feed workflows in order to help others answer client questions or address client requests; contributing to optimization and automation of standard processes by identifying recurring issues across monthly publications or across varying client feeds, researching solutions, and executing agreed-upon steps in a timely and accurate manner; working on projects that enhance and optimize code base to improve scalability and performance; proactively researching and resolving data issues that impact client success; collaborating with internal teams to improve the data integration system; providing support and guidance to cross-functional teams as a technical resource; and assisting with ad-hoc data operations needs and cross-functional projects within the Population Health group. Position based at company HQ (Boston, MA); position is 100% remote and may work from anywhere in US.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; and 2 years of relevant IT experience.

Must have: Demonstrated experience with relational databases; demonstrated experience writing queries and managing data; demonstrated experience with SQL programming; demonstrated understanding of data management tools and analysis techniques; demonstrated experience in analyzing complex business problems; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of healthcare IT product suites and business models; demonstrated ability to learn various technologies and methodologies with minimal training; demonstrated adaptability and comfort with ambiguity relating to development of offerings with diverse requirements, stakeholders, and opportunities; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at various cohort levels; demonstrated professional attitude and comfort working in a corporate setting populated by diverse types of people; demonstrated ability to maintain poise and a sense of humor in stressful situations; demonstrated ability to taking a proactive approach to identifying solutions to problems and to taking on work that helps the collective team meet their goals; demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, drive results, and meet deadlines; demonstrated ability to dive deep into information and articulate core findings to the broader group; demonstrated ability to expresses complex issues succinctly and logically; demonstrated ability to execute multiple project work streams simultaneously and transparently, ensuring that all internal and external stakeholders understand the projects’ goals and deliverables; and demonstrated ability to influence others through enthusiasm, commitment, and vision rather than through direct line authority.
