Zendesk, Inc. seeks Staff Software Engineer in San Francisco, CA.

Job Duties: Develop high-quality software to support frontend and backend systems for Zendesk's Email communication channel. Write, test, deploy and maintain code to support the applications and infrastructure required to receive, process, and send millions of emails a day. Develop new software features and improve reliability for internal ( email platform) and external (SMB, enterprise) customers, using Git for version control. Increase email system reliability through code optimization, improved software monitoring, early problem detection, security compliance, and improved change management practices. Monitor email processing systems, identify trouble spots, and write clean, efficient computer code to debug production issues, leveraging cloud technologies like AWS and Kubernetes. Enforce software engineering best practices when designing, building, and maintaining systems throughout the Software Development Lifecycle. Collaborate with other software engineers and teams to fix bugs that are impacting customers' email access and use. Telecommuting Permitted.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related quantitative discipline and 3 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of software engineering or program analysis.

Special Skill Requirements:
(1) Ruby on Rails and Git;
(2) JavaScript, CSS, HTML, XML, JSON, and RESTful API design;
(3) HTML email;
(4) JQuery and Ember front-end web frameworks;
(5) MySQL, NoSQL, and Redis;
(6) Linux and Bash/shell scripting; and
(7) cloud computing and container orchestration technologies.

Any suitable combination of education, training and experience is acceptable.

Salary Range: $181,272 – $238,000 per annum.
