Position Description:



Designs, develops, and modifies complex and major software systems using scientific analysis, mathematical models, and tools and technologies -- Snowflake, Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL, Apache, NiFi, and Kafka. Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects. Identifies and acquires talent needs, performs resource planning, and talent allocation across the organization. Delivers and supports Cloud strategies -- migrating legacy products and implementing SaaS integrations. Supervises the work of programmers, technologists and technicians and other engineering and scientific personnel. Develops and directs software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.



Primary Responsibilities:



· Provides business unit-wide solutions by developing complex, multi-faceted software applications.

· Researches and recommends new technologies in support of the strategic direction of the business unit.

· Translates and incorporates business vision and objectives to architectural strategy recommendations at the functional level.

· Identifies and consults with internal and external technical resources to produce cross-company strategic designs.

· Consults on development and delivery of major technology initiatives for the business unit.

· Consults on deployment of major project deliverables.

· Consults on the documentation of major technology applications.

· Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional or company architectural components.

· Initiates and drives project or strategy discussions with users or external groups to resolve issues.

· Provides guidance, training, and coaching to other team members for performance and career development.



Education and Experience:



Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience as a Director, Data Engineering (or closely related occupation) overseeing teams of engineers developing systems and software using Snowflake, Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL, Apache, NiFi, and Kafka.



Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience as a Director, Data Engineering (or closely related occupation) overseeing teams of engineers developing systems and software using Snowflake, Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL, Apache, NiFi, and Kafka.



Skills and Knowledge:



Candidate must also possess:



· Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) building data warehouses and developing Big Data Hadoop solutions using Snowflake, Informatica, Airflow, Control-M, UNIX, Spark SQL, and Python.

· DE analyzing, profiling, mining, extraction, and cleansing data and large-scale data warehouses using Snowflake, Postgres, Netezza, AWS, SQL Server, and Oracle; and generating visual insights for business and end users by creating data models and data structures using Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), BI Publisher, and Tableau.

· DE performing data analysis to support business needs and decision making -- data cleaning, preparation, transformation, and modeling data from various data sources onto a data warehouse platform -- using Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, and IBM DB2.

· DE creating relational and dimensional data model designs using industry standard principles, data architecture methodologies (3NF and Kimball), and trends in a financial services or investment management environment; and collecting and organizing metadata to support data discovery and governance using Collibra or Alation.
