Duties include the following:
(1) Provide technical leadership and direction for projects involving multiple technologies and teams;
(2) Collaborate with technical leads, product managers, and other engineers to provide experienced guidance and feedback on technical designs, decisions, and projects;
(3) Take a lead role in the building of the micro-services and asynchronous data processing systems, primarily using Java 8;
(4) Carry out system testing and debugging;
(5) Perform pager duty (on call rotations for operational support);
(6) Mentor other engineers and assist them in growing their engineering skills. Help review their code, verify the correctness of their work, as well as educate them on any gaps in their knowledge;
(7) Design solutions with reliability, maintainability, usability, readability, performance, and scalability of the overall solution in mind; and
(8) Continuously enhance technical skills, deepening knowledge and expanding breadth in their technical domain. Serve as the go-to person for technical expertise and guidance.

Telecommuting is an option.
Employer requires a candidate to have at least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field and at least five (5) years of progressively more responsible work experience as a Software Developer or a related role.

Candidate must also have the following:

1. Demonstrated ability writing in Java gained through two (2) years of work experience;
2. Demonstrated ability designing and implementing in RESTful APIs gained through two (2) years of work experience;
3. Demonstrated knowledge of SQL gained through two (2) years of work experience;
4. Demonstrated ability designing distributed systems gained through two (2) years of work experience;
5. Demonstrated ability writing unit and acceptance tests software systems gained through two (2) years of work experience;
6. Demonstrated understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented architectures gained through two (2) years of work experience; and
7. Demonstrated understanding of Unix-based platforms, its standard utilities, and the Git version control system gained through two (2) years of work experience.

All years of experience may be gained concurrently.

Alternatively, employer requires a candidate to have at least a master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of work experience as a Software Developer or related role.
Candidate must also have the following:
1. Demonstrated ability writing in Java gained through two (2) years of work experience;
2. Demonstrated ability designing and implementing in RESTful APIs gained through two (2) years of work experience;
3. Demonstrated knowledge of SQL gained through two (2) years of work experience;
4. Demonstrated ability designing distributed systems gained through two (2) years of work experience;
