If you have a passion for serving Veterans, consider becoming a Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) Finance Manager in Rocky Boy, Montana.
The Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) was established in 2015 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) organization in February of 2016. GPVSC is headquartered on the Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation in North Central Montana. GPVSC established the Veterans Support Services (VSS) program in January 2017. The purpose of this program is to provide Veterans with access to all VA benefits they have earned; assist unemployed Veterans in becoming self-sufficient by transitioning them into the workforce; support homeless Veterans or at-risk for homeless Veterans in attaining and maintaining housing; provide mental health and suicide prevention support and provide case management to assist Veterans in overall quality of life needs. In 2020, GPVSC began operating its Veterans Transportation Services (VTS) program. This program provides transportation services to rural Montana Veterans for VA and VA-referred appointments.
JOB OVERVIEW
At the direction of the Executive Director, the Finance Manager manages all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes, including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, journal entries, and bank reconciliation in accordance with GAAP. This position will supervise the Payroll Clerk. The position manages all federal and foundation grants; prepares financial reports; manages GPVSC and program budgets; works closely with outside auditors to complete required reports and documentation. Works in a manner that supports the mission of the Great Plains Veterans Services Center (GPVSC) to ensure that daily operations, procedures, and standards are maintained in accordance with federal, tribal, and state laws and regulations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITES
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Skill in operating QuickBooks software, including all general accounting transactions, GL management, budgeting, and reporting.
Ability to perform job duties with integrity and innovation to ensure completion and a high level of quality.
Ability to understand and adhere to required administrative policies and procedures.
Skill in non-profit administrative tasks and project/program management.
Knowledge and understanding of the importance of adhering to confidentiality standards.
Skill in establishing rapport and working to build and maintain effective working relationships with Veterans, staff, GPVSC Board of Directors, and community agency representatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATAIONS
Five years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or related fields, preferably in a non-profit environment, managing finances with multiple funding sources.
Bachelors degree in accounting, bookkeeping, or related field.
Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The Great Plains Veterans Services Center may provide a training assignment for chosen candidates who do not meet minimum qualifications. Employees in training assignments may be paid a lower starting wage. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mainly performed on a computer for up to 8 hours daily.
Frequent interactions with GPVSC staff, clients, and external stakeholders.
Occasional day travel is required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Must hold a valid Montana driver's license and successfully complete a driver's history check.
